Our prom at Kettle Run High School brought the roaring 20s back to life with a night of fun, fashion, and unforgettable memories. The venue at the Vint Hill Inn was decorated with gold and black, which helped capture the charm of the era. The vintage theme inspired many students to dress outside of typical prom fashion and embrace the style and spirit of the 20s.
This era was full of new fashion and exciting music, making it the perfect theme to have a fun time at prom. But this was no mistake; every year, the junior class SCA plans and prepares for prom to not only take stress off seniors but also to allow students to collaborate on the most important dance of the year. Jackson Colgan, Junior class SCA president, says, “I like to get everyone’s opinion and give everyone the chance to give suggestions.” The planning process began months ago, with students working together to prepare the theme, venue, decorations, and music with help from sponsors.
When the night finally arrived, the hard work paid off. Students had purchased tickets from the library weeks before being a part of this special event. For over a decade, Mrs. McGilvery has played an active role in helping organize the prom as a cosponsor. Regarding ticket prices, she says it is “based on the cost of the venue, DJ, decorations, and the food provided.” These expenses not only provide entertainment but also a comfortable atmosphere for everyone attending. Later in the evening, Uyen Phan and Jack Gray were crowned Prom King and Queen, a moment that everyone could enjoy. But the fun didn’t stop there, many students continued the celebration at After Prom.
After prom is a supervised event by parents. The purpose of after prom is for students to have a safe, fun, substance-free celebration for seniors and juniors. After prom, there are fun activities for everyone! Some activities include the Mechanical bull, Bungee run, blackjack, and more! You can win prizes too, like gift cards, PS5, and more! If you are a senior, you could win $2,025! To win prizes, you have to do the activities, earn tickets from them, and then turn your tickets into the designated boxes of the prizes you want. The location for the after-prom was Kettle Run High School, and the event started at midnight and ended at 4 AM. The school also provided free food and drinks for students and had an ice cream truck outside by the cafeteria. They played music and had bingo for students who wanted to play!
Both prom and after prom this year were a huge success! Students had fun both on the dance floor and beyond, enjoying all the planned activities and games. As 2025’s prom comes to a close, and on such a positive note, students and staff alike can begin to look forward to next year’s prom celebrations.
