The Kettle Run sophomore class Student Council Association is more than just a club. It gives students a voice while also focusing on community service, planning school events, fundraising, and much more. This week we interviewed President Olivia Horan, and Historian Megan Kimmel asking why they were drawn to SCA and what responsibilities they have as members.
We first interviewed our President Olivia Horan, who told us that she loves being an SCA member. When we asked about her role and responsibilities, Horan explained, “My job is to lead SCA meetings, get people excited about school events, and come up with creative ways to raise money for our class.” Horan also shared her enthusiasm for the position. “I love it, it’s so much fun and a great way to be involved with school!” she said. When asked what made her choose the role, Horan said, “I chose this role to challenge myself, become a better leader, and put some of my creativity to use.” Her response shows that she sees the position as an opportunity to grow as a leader while contributing to the school community.
Megan Kimmel serves as the Sophomore Class Historian. Part of her role involves helping the class communicate with students and document its activities. We asked about her responsibilities, Kimmel said she “Helps run the class of 2029 social media accounts and helps to plan school events.” Kimmel said she enjoys being class historian because she loves to “Help document things and help planning school events to get students involved and raise money for our school/class.” She chose this role because she “Wanted to try something new” and has “always been interested in social media management.” She also wanted to help her school in any way she could
Through these interviews, we were able to learn more about the responsibilities of SCA members and what motivates students to become involved. SCA offers students interested in leadership, planning school activities, and helping their school community a chance to take on an active role. Ultimately, the interviews showed how SCA members can help connect, and engage with the Kettle Run community.
