Should teens be able to trick or treat or should there be an age restriction for trick or treating? Trick or treating is a fun activity to do on Halloween. You can go to people’s houses and get candy and other fun Halloween treats. Most teenagers love to trick or treat, but some think that they are too old to dress up and ask for candy at doors. At most houses during Halloween people don’t let teenagers get candy because they say they’re too old . So why should teens be able to trick or treat if some people say no to them?
The pros of teenagers trick or treating is that teens get to put stress from school and maybe even work aside and have fun. Another pro is that teens can spend more time with family and friends without having to worry about homework and sports for a day. The last pro is that teenagers in a neighborhood with family could feel less overwhelmed when they get to trick or treat when it gets a little bit darker out. There are cons to letting teens trick or treat. Teenagers can play very illegal “tricks” on people in neighborhoods, tall teens can make little kids scared, candy can get shortened very quickly, and teenagers tend to be very disruptive.
A couple students were asked if teenagers should be able to trick or treat or if they should just stay home. Junior, Leonna Hall stated, “Yes teenagers should be able to trick or treat because it is fun to dress up, get candy, teenagers will be more responsible, and you’re never too old to trick or treat.” She also said, “Looking at all the teenagers with matching costumes is cool.”
Safia Nahidian, a Freshman, agreed that teenagers should trick or treat. She says, “Teenagers definitely should be able to trick or treat because trick or treating is when fall actually gets really fun and it is a normal teenage thing to do.”
Freshman, Bella Efthemes, said, “Yes teenagers should be able to trick or treat because free candy is the best and also dressing up with friends is awesome.” On the other hand, Junior Desmond Davis says, “Teenagers shouldn’t trick or treat because they can just go to parties instead and they can get candy any day they want.”
