SCA (Student Council Association) is a student-led organization. The SCA plans and executes events such as spirit weeks, charity fundraisers, and school dances. They also manage community service projects such as food drives or environmental cleanups. Student councils are the bridge between the student body and the administration, sharing student opinions, ideas, or concerns. Participation in the SCA can develop public speaking abilities, leadership qualities, and collaborative decision-making. The students work to improve student-faculty relationships throughout the school building.

Grace Gfeller is the president of the senior SCA. When asked why she wanted to join the SCA, she said, “I wanted to make an impact and make the school a better place.” When asked whether she hopes more people will join, Gfeller said, “I hope more people join and if you are going to join a club, you should go straight to SCA. Once you’re in, you can contribute your voice and participate in a lot of stuff.”

Luke Blakely is the secretary of the senior SCA. When asked why he joined, Blakely said, “I joined because I like helping people. It helps the school be a better place and I find that it’s mostly girls who join, so I thought it’d be good to give ideas.” He also said that it is important to join because it helps the student body understand what happens around the school when planning events.

Brooklyn Macbeth is the vice president of the senior SCA. She said, “I thought it would be fun and it gives you a say in what happens. I hope people join because most people think you have to be an officer to join but you don’t have to.” When asked why she thinks student involvement matters, she said, “Everyone should have a say, I think it brings the school together.”

After interviewing these students, we found that these officers love helping the school and giving the student body a say in what happens. They hope that other students join the club and help improve our school.
