Mr. Patten is an exciting new addition to the math department at Kettle Run High School, where he currently teaches Geometry. He chose to teach at Kettle Run because of the school’s small and supportive community.
Mr. Patten was born in Washington D.C. At the age of 3, his family moved to the rural side of Virginia. He grew up in Springfield, VA where he later, graduated from Lake Braddock Secondary School in Fairfax, Virginia. Mr. Patten attended Georgia Tech, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Soon after Mr. Patten received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania.
Driven by a lifelong passion for education and a desire to give back to the community, he decided to bring his academic background into the classroom to give back with the knowledge he had from high school and college. He chose to teach math because, “Math is such a unique subject, where you either get it right or wrong.” For Mr. Patten, the most rewarding part of teaching is watching a student transform from struggling with a concept to truly understanding and excelling in it.
